Route description Col de Varda mountain hut

The hike to the Rifugio Col de Varda mountain hut begins at the shimmering Misurina lake, also known as the "Pearl of Cadore" because of its crystal clear waters and picturesque mountain scenery.

At the southern end of Lago di Misurina lake, hiking trail no. 120 points the way to Rifugio Col de Varda. It winds its way steadily up through forests and small meadows, opening up again and again beautiful views of the Dolomites rising all around.

After almost 400 meters of ascent, the Rifugio Col de Varda mountain hut at the foot of the Cima Ciadin de Misurina invites you to take a break. But before that, you should not miss the short ascent to the Col de Varda towering next to it.

Just before the Rifugio Col de Varda mountain hut, a wooden sign with the inscription "Panorama" indicates the rocky and gravelly ascent to this panoramic "hill". A little later, an unexpectedly wide view of the surrounding Dolomites, the Val d'Ansiei on one side and the Lago di Misurina lake on the other side unfolds.

The way back from the Rifugio Col de Varda mountain hut is the same as the way there.
