Circular hike from Pederù to the Sennes mountain hut, to the Fosses lake and to the rifugio Biella mountain hut
This varied circular hike from Pederù in the Val Badia valley offers several highlights: the enchanting landscape of the two nature parks Fanes-Sennes-Braies and Dolomiti d'Ampezzo, the picturesque Fosses lake and the enjoyable stop at the Biella mountain hut.
Route description Fosses lake and rifugio Biella mountain hut
The starting point of the circular hike to Fosses lake is the mountain inn Pederù in the rear Val di Rudo valley, to which a toll road leads from the Val Badia valley village of San Vigilio di Marebbe.
From the mountain inn you first follow the steep serpentine path no. 7, which is tightly pressed against the steep slope, in the direction of Sennes alp.
Finally, on the left side of the path, path no. 7A branches off, which climbs partly quite steeply, partly gently to the enchanting Sennes mountian hut at 2,116 m above sea level.
Next to the inviting mountain hut, follow the wide panoramic trail no. 6A in the direction of Ra Stua / Cortina, from which a little later trail no. 6 leads away to the rifugio Biella mountain hut and to lago di Fosses lake.
The path climbs gently through the picturesque mountain landscape characterized by the pale dolomites until, on the right side of the path, a wooden sign points the way to the lago di Fosses lake (Lago de Foses). It leads in a pleasant up and down to this idyllic mountain lake nestled in a green hollow on the malga di Fosses meadows.
After a leisurely rest on the lonely shores of Fosses lake, follow trail no. 26 to rifugio Biella mountain hut (Seekofel mountain hut).
After another three quarters of an hour of gentle ascent, you reach this hospitable mountain hut made of light-colored natural stone, which invites you to take a break at the foot of Croda del Becco peak.
Way back from the rifugio Biella mountain hut
From the rifugio Biella mountain hut, the initially wide hiking trail no. 6 and later 6A lead back to the Sennes mountian hut in just under an hour against the picturesque backdrop of the summits rising to the right and left.
From the Sennes mountain hut you hike down on the already known path to the starting point Pederù.
