Route description Croda Negra

The hike to the Croda Negra starts from the car park of the Lagazuoi cable car on the Falzarego pass in Belluno, just behind the South Tyrolean border.

With a view of the black-colored rock walls of the Croda Negra, you first follow the pass road down for a short distance. Behind the souvenir stores, hiking trail no . 441 branches off to the right in the direction of the Averau mountain hut. It leads on a gentle ascent through the gentle mountain meadows framed by notable dolomites.

At the foot of the Croda Negra, the hiking trail n. 422 branches off to the right. It leads first in a pleasant ascent through the stone-covered mountain meadows and later over the partly rugged, partly gravel-covered and grassy summit structure. On the way, one encounters individual sloping passages and a small rock chimney that is quite easy to master for hikers accustomed to the mountains.

After about 400 meters of ascent, you reach the flat summit of Croda Negra, where a breathtakingly beautiful view of well-known summits such as the Lagazuoi, the Tofana di Rozes, the Sorapis, the Cinque Torri or the nearby Averau unfolds.

After a well-deserved rest on the summit, continue on hiking trail no . 422, which now descends along the southeast side of Croda Negra. On the way you will encounter a rocky and a slightly exposed passage, which should be quite easy to master for hikers who are used to the mountains and sure-footed.

Finally, the hike joins hiking trail no. 441, which leads straight back to the Falzarego pass against the backdrop of the Lagazuoi.
